My name is K.C. and all my life, I’ve had longer hair. I’d either have my hair in a ponytail or have my hair down.

            For years I’ve wanted to have a new hairstyle, but my mother wouldn’t allow me to cut my hair, I use to get so angry, but I knew when I turned 18 I could do what I want to my hair.

            The first time I messed with my hair, I had my friend Space cut my dead ends off. I was happy with my hair.

            The second time I messed with my hair, I had a grL at Job Corps Perm my hair, I have a different texture of hair, My hair fell out, not all of my hair my fronts and my back fell out.

            After that lesson I knew I shouldn’t have messed with my hair again, three weeks later I dyed my hair light brown….. That dye fried hair and it also feel out. When my hair is falling out I was laughing, I wasn’t angry, hair will always grow back!

            The third time I cut my hair into a MOHAWK! I loved my Mohawk so much, others around me would say negative things about my hair, I’m the type of person who don’t care what you think about me, you either like me or u don’t. Other’s around me where angry.

            Here at Job Corps they made me cut my Mohawk off, I cut my Mohawk off Sunday, June 3^rd, 2007. Mohawk grL R.I.P.

            Since I’ve had time to think about my life, people always labeled me as “THE GIRL WITH THE LONG HAIR” I hate being labeled. Other would tell me oh your, the black girl who has long hair, you should be proud because most black girl’s don’t have long hair. Why would you cut your hair?

            I’ve also realized society judges you on your appearance, that’s not ever right because it’s what’s on the inside not on the outside.

            My hair doesn’t define who I am, I could be freakin’ no hair and still be the sexiest girl out there.
